Founded in 1756, Austrias Riedel Crystal is the worlds premier manufacturer of wine glasses. The Vinum Extreme series of glasses are machine-made of diamond-shaped 24-percent lead crystal. These glass shapes, with a unique angular look, dramatic oversized bowls, and extra-tall stems, were introduced in 1986 to support the increasingly dense consistency of wines. The design provides an exceptionally wide evaporation surface, thereby intensifying a wines bouquet and silky texture. The glasses in this set of four are specifically recommended to enhance the taste of wines such as Chardonnay, White Burgundy, Corton-Charlemagne, Montrachet, and Meursault. The large bowl provides room for the wines rich bouquet to unfold without becoming too intense.
