Designed for a wide range of body types, this Tanita two-in-one family/athlete scale measures both weight and body-fat percentage in one 30-second reading. The dual feedback helps you gauge your health more accurately by determining whether weight fluctuations are due to changes in fat or muscle. To calculate body fat, the scale uses bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA), the same method doctors use. BIA transmits safe, low-level electrical signals through your body and measures the rate and strength at which they travel. Readings are displayed in 1-percent increments and rated underfat, healthy, or overfat. Calibrated for up to 300 pounds, the scale also displays weight measurements in .2-pound increments. Using a numbered system, the unit stores profiles for up to four users, and has a guest mode for visitors. It is suitable for children (ages 7 to 17) and adults who are inactive to moderately active. Its also appropriate for highly active adults who exercise intensely for 10 hours per week or have a resting heart rate of 60 bpm. It is not appropriate for pregnant women, professional athletes, or bodybuilders. Numbered toe-tap buttons; clear prompts; and a large, readable display keep programming on this model simple.
