A great gift, this īset provides a cook with enough versatility to accomplish most kitchen tasks. The chefs knife, with a broad blade and curved cutting edge for rocking through a chopping task, chops, minces, slices, and dices. The utility knife slices, cuts, and chops; its 6-inch blade is large enough to trim a chuck roast or subdue a head of lettuce. The paring knife cuts, peels, and cleans fruits and vegetables. Classic three-rivet handles distinguish Pro S from Henckels other quality lines: TwinStar, Five Star, and Four Star. Pro S handles are heavier and its knives less weight-forward. Handles are also smaller, a feature those with small hands may appreciate. The steel used in the Pro S line is identical to that of the Five and Four Star lines. High-tech welding of larger knives combines three steel types into what appears to be a single piece so a knifes parts have distinct characteristics. The paring knife is forged.
