By displaying not only the current temperatures indoors and outdoors but also the minimum and maximum temperatures for any given periods both indoors and outdoors this digital thermometer answers questions such as, How cold did it get outdoors this month? How hot was indoors today? Furthermore, the unit also operates as a hygrometer, keeping track of indoor humidity. All this information is displayed on two large, easy-to-read LCD screens. The top screen displays the outdoor temperature (minus-40 to 150 degrees F, or minus-50 to 70 degrees C), as measured by a sensor on the end of a 10-foot cord that can be dangled outside a window or run under a door. The bottom screen displays the indoor temperature (minus-20 to 120 degrees F, or minus-10 to 50 degrees C) as well as the relative indoor humidity. The unit has two sets of buttons, one set for indoor temperatures, the other for outdoor. Each set has a "max-min" button and a reset button. Pressing a "max-min" button displays--on the indoor or outdoor screen--the minimum and maximum temperatures for any given period. The measuring period can be anywhere from, say, a minute to a month--or even a year. A period wont lapse until a reset button is pressed. Thus, indoor and outdoor minimum/maximum temperature recalls operate independently, and, within each category, minimum and maximum recalls also operate independently. The unit operates on a long-life battery (included) and can be stood on a desktop with a built-in stand or hung by a nail or screw with a wall-mount slot in the back.
