With dry iron, water spray, and full-range steam capabilities, the T-Fal Avantis 70 steam iron shows frustrating wrinkles the door--and fast. The 1,400-watt iron is designed for horizontal ironing, generating 20 grams of steam per minute or up to 50 grams with the power burst option. Double thumb buttons activate the steam jet and water spray. The irons Durilium-coated soleplate features a pointed heel for two-way ironing and T-Fals "active lines" to help the unit travel more quickly. A three-way auto shutoff device cuts power if the iron spends 8 minutes on its heel or 30 seconds on its soleplate or side. Structurally, the Avantis 70 is both smart and comfortable. The antidrip construction prevents leaks when the iron is cool, and sliding switches control both steam selection and temperature. The purple water tank is transparent and fills easily with the included cup. T-Fals antiscaling valve prevents lime scale buildup and extends the natural life of the iron. Measuring 11-1/2 by 6-1/4 by 5 inches, the iron has an 11-foot-8-inch power cord that rotates 360 degrees on a swivel joint. Handy extras include an indicator light, a sliding water tank door, and a Spanish/English fabric menu.
