Key to the devices performance is the patented heartbeat sound it radiates at a low frequency thats virtually inaudible to humans but attracts insects over a wide area. When they get closer, insects are drawn in by the smell of a strip emitting the natural fragrance of octenol, which mimics breath, ultraviolet reflection that mimics movement; and the units 110-degree-F heat--like that of a warm-blooded victim. Lured into the device, insects are captured by a WebTrap adhesive paper coated with a special glue thats effective in all weather, including rain. Each WebTrap is good for about seven days, and an octenol strip lasts four weeks. (Four WebTraps and one strip included, with replacement kits available separately.)
