By generating ultrasonic sound waves, this battery-operated device repels dogs, cats, skunks, opossums, raccoons, and armadillos from yard or garden. Its both humane and environmentally friendly, an alternative to traps, poisons, and chemicals. The device is motion-activated, automatically sending out sound waves when a pest is detected within an area of up to 4,000 square feet, and operates for up to six months on four D-cell batteries (not included). A knob adjusts sound-wave generation to one of seven different levels (from 14,000 to 26,000 Hz), depending on the pests present. (A guide on the back matches settings to pests.) Though lower-range sound waves might be detected by pets and humans, they are not harmful. The weather-resistant device is encased in rugged plastic and measures 6-3/4 by 4-3/4 by 3-1/4 inches.
