For folks who eat rice on a daily--or even weekly--basis, this rice cooker has a unique fuzzy logic microchip for advanced programming and a spherical heating system that cooks on all sides of the inner pan and makes perfect rice every time. The unit cooks up to 5 cups (enough for a main-course dinner for four) of a variety of rices-—white, brown, sweet, and porridge-—to use in dishes such as sushi, paella, stir-fries, or curries. The cooker has settings to accommodate your preference for harder or softer rice and even has a setting for prewashed rice. The LCD screen is easy to read and the push-button controls are simple to program once youve mastered them. A programmable timer allows you to set your cooking time without worry that rice will burn or get overcooked--and the start and complete time of your cooking cycle signals with a pleasant melody rather than a jarring beep (although you can choose a beep if you prefer it). Another excellent option is the ability to keep rice warm for up to 12 hours after cooking is complete, so you can cook before work and have warm rice at dinner. The function warms rice for up to 8 hours at a lower temperature, reducing the chance of having rice dry out or become discolored or odorous. Both the inner pan and inner lid detach from the unit for thorough cleaning. The rice cooker has a plastic handle for transporting it from cabinet to counter and a retractable cord for easy storage.
